Our Mission
Our mission is to provide an immersive and engaging VR experience that fosters community, sparks creativity, and promotes personal growth
through dance, movement, fitness, yoga, mindfulness, and art.
Our VR dance classes simulate a real-life class experience using VR headsets and full body tracking technology.
Classes are held every week inside VRChat, with a live instructor.
In addition to classes we host community meetups (every Friday) and various events.
We have a student showcase every season which can be seen live on our virtual stage!
We also host our beloved "Meme Dance Battle" twice a year!
Students can attend our live VR dance classes, access class recordings, and support our community by joining us as a member on Ko-fi.
Our History & Founder
The VR Dance Academy, founded by DustBunny, opened its virtual doors on January 1, 2022, fulfilling Dusty's childhood dream of owning a dance studio. Dusty embarked on her dance journey at the age of 11, specializing in Belly Dancing for over 20 years. Since 2010, she has professionally performed and taught dance classes in local studios.
Dusty's passion for dance expanded to VRChat in December 2018, where she embraced the virtual realm with her first full-body VR tracking system. Initiating Belly Dance Classes every Sunday from 2018 to 2020, Dusty ventured into Twitch streaming, creating VR dance content and tutorials. Concurrently, she worked at a local ballroom studio, specializing in Beginner Ballroom, drawing on her Ballroom experience since 2008 in Smooth and Latin styles.
Dusty's diverse dance repertoire extends beyond Belly Dancing and Ballroom, encompassing Hawaiian Hula, Bollywood, Freestyle Hip Hop, African Dance, Flamenco, and more.
Complementing her active lifestyle with Pilates, Gym Fitness, and a decade-long dedication to Yoga and Meditation since 2010, Dusty is a holistic dance enthusiast.
Armed with a bachelor's degree in creative media and digital filmmaking, Dusty not only excels in dance but also creates captivating content. She showcases her creative prowess through Twitch dance streaming, VR dance content, and tutorials on Youtube. Additionally, Dusty is featured as a subject in the HBO film "We Met in VR."
